Position Description:
The Unit Secretary communicates patient clinical financial information, manually and electronically, to appropriate health care providers. Prioritizes the flow of patient information to all areas. Acts as the centralized communication facilitator for the patient care areas.
Skills/Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required : High school graduation or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terminology. Experience with computer information systems. 6 months of computer order entry experience in a hospital setting and one year experience in a similar role in a health care setting. Must be able to handle extremely high volumes, and have the ability to multi-task.
Preferred : Some college in health related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA's and St. David's "Patients First" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
·Interacts directly with public, physicians, nursing staff, patients, administration, and other department representatives. Maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information. May be exposed to stressful situations. Makes independent decisions based on information provided by the supervisor and Policy and Procedure manuals.
